Frustrated Terrorists Kill Three, Kidnap Others in Sokoto Community

Suspected terrorists have killed three persons and kidnapped many others in Soro community of Binji local government area of Sokoto State. 

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the community at about 1am Monday. They said the terrorist came in their large number with cattle suspected to be rustled. 

However, security operatives from the police and military repelled the attack, a development that frustrated the terrorists as they failed to accomplish their mission. 

ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, Spokesperson of Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the development saying “Some gunmen suspected to be bandits launched an attack on the Soro community but our gallant men with the support of military operatives repelled the attack.

“But the bandits out of frustration set some houses on fire as a result of which three of the residents lost their lives while few others sustained various degrees of injuries.

“There were reprisal attacks but our men were able to calm the situation after the Police Commissioner, Ali Kaigama sat with leaders of the two communities,” he said. 

An eyewitness told Daily Trust that the terrorists, “came in large numbers with their animals suspected to be rustled from other communities.

“They killed three of our people and injured another three. They also abducted several others including a whole family.

He said residents fled the community out of fear of the unknown. 

WikkiTimes recalls that in 2022, bandits kidnapped 30 guests who attended a wedding in Tambuwal. Similarly, In August this year, eight prospective NYSC members were kidnapped.
