Ghost workers: Bauchi Gov. discovers 89 medical doctors on state’s payroll

Bauchi State government said it has discovered 89 non-existent medical doctors on the State’s payroll drawing millions as monthly salaries.

The State’s commissioner for works Abdulkadir Ibrahim Chikasoron Bauchi made the revelation while answering questions from newsmen after the State’s Executive Council Meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi.

Cikasoro said the ghost medical workers were discovered through the continued exercise of the State’s verification committee.

He said the medical doctors have been milking the state in salary emoluments while they were employed elsewhere.

Cikasoro argued that a dangerous cabal has hijacked the payroll of the Bauchi State government which consistently keeps shortchanging the state of millions of naira.

“ Let me tell you, these doctors that are eating our salaries and not working for us were trained with the resources of the State government”, but regretted that their faces remain in the shadows.

He said his principal, the governor of the State was ready to sanitize the payroll of the State government no matter whose ox is gored.
