Ghost Workers: Bauchi Sports Ministry Commences Staff Verification

Bauchi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has on Wednesday commenced a one-week physical verification exercise for the staff of the ministry and Sports Council.

Hon Adamu Manu Soro, Commissioner for Youth and Sports said that the exercise was aimed at sanitizing the nominal and payroll of the ministry thereby discouraging absenteeism and ensuring staff productivity in line with the policies of the present administration.

The Commissioner expressed commitment to complement the efforts of Governor Bala Mohammed towards ensuring civil servants are earning legitimate salaries.

He said that he decided to re-introduce the verification so as to ensure what he left in the ministry before his reappointment has not been compromised.

” As you all know before we were dissolved as Commissioners and members of the state executive council, we conducted such exercise and therefore with my reappointment I must do same to ensure what I left has not been tampered with”.

While calling on the staff to cooperate with the officials by providing them with relevant information and documents, the Commissioner noted that after finishing with the staff of the ministry, the committee will move to Sports Council for a similar exercise.

“We are starting from the ministry here in Abubakar Umar Secretariat and after that, the screening committee will visit the Sports Council and therefore I appeal for maximum support and cooperation to enable us to achieve the desired objective”.
