The Gombe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has inaugurated a Grievance Redress Committee (GRC) to address concerns and issues related to livestock project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
The committee was launched at the Conference Hall of the L-PRES Coordination Office on Tuesday.
The Project Coordinator, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar, chaired the meeting and urged committee members to develop an action plan to mark the committee’s takeoff.
The seven-member committee, led by the Social Safeguard Officer, Barrister Mwalin Naomi Abdu will receive and address grievances related to the livestock sector, including issues within the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
Professor Abubakar cited the Project Appraisal Document (PAD), which recommended establishing a GRC to receive, hear, and address complaints arising from the project. He called on all project staff to support the committee.
Barrister Abdu, outlined the committee’s responsibilities, including receiving and registering grievances, documenting and maintaining records, and resolving issues amicably.
She noted that similar committees will be established at state and community levels to provide a coordinated approach to resolving emerging challenges during project implementation.
