Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi State Governor has named Auwal Mohammed Jatau as his running mate for the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial elections.
Jatau represents Zaki Federal Constituency of Bauchi State in the House of Representatives.
He was also a onetime speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 gubernatorial elections where he lost to the former Governor, Mohammed Abubakar Abdullahi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Bala announced Jatau as his running mate on Sunday while hosting the PDP stalwarts in the state.
This stunningly indicates that the governor would not return to the poll with his current deputy, Baba Tela.
The amazed Jatau while speaking with journalist, thanked the governor for finding him worthy to fit into the post.
He also extolled the governor’s performance so far in the office.
His words: “This is a great honour to me and I want to assure the Governor that I will justify the confidence reposed in me.
“No Government in the history of Bauchi State has performed well like what the Kauran Bauchi is doing to us now. All of us are surprised with the performances of our Governor in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the entire people of the state and we must appreciate His Excellency for making us proud”.
“Our 2023 campaign would be based on what we have achieved so far and things that we can do in our second term, and In sha Allah, the achievements recorded by the Governor would be the key to our collective victory in the outcome of the governorship election.”
