Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has ordered the immediate removal of all security police checkpoints within the metropolis
This was contained in a press statement issued by Commissioner for Information, Meshack Lauco. According to him, the decision was taken after consultations with heads of security agencies in the state.
The commissioner said the governor urged citizens to cooperate with the directive in the interest of peace and security in the state.

This order excludes checkpoints bordering neighbouring states. However, they would be closed for vehicular movement from 12 midnight to 6 am.
Although Gombe is in the conflict-ravaged North East, it has no record of insurgency except for thuggery. The state authority had taken several steps to contain the nefarious activities of the thugs, yet they seems unrestrained.
