Governor Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Professor Sani Ahmad Yauta as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University (GSU).
The appointment follows the recommendation of the university’s Governing Council and was conveyed by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Director General on Press Affairs, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, on Wednesday, Professor Yauta is expected to steer GSU towards greater academic excellence, research advancement, and infrastructural growth.
In a related development, the Governor has also approved the appointment of principal officers for the College of Education and Legal Studies (COELS), Nafada, in acting capacities.
The appointments, made in line with the COELS Law of 2021 (Section 20, Sub-section 2), take immediate effect.
Those appointed are: Dr. Dauda Mohammed – Acting Provost, Aishatu Mahmud Aliyu – Acting Registrar, and Ahijo Usman Mohammed as Acting Bursar.
Statement added that Governor Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening leadership in state-owned tertiary institutions to ensure smooth academic and administrative operations.
