Gov Yahaya Swears-in Awak As New Chief Judge Of Gombe

The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has on Friday sworn in Justice Joseph Awak as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.

Governor Yahaya said the new Chief Judge was found worthy to serve Gombe State in that capacity because of his many years of meritorious and selfless service.

He said Justice Awak served in an acting capacity since January 2, following the retirement of the former Acting Chief Judge, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga.

He noted that on March 16, 2022, the Judicial Service Commission made the recommendation for Awak to be appointed as head of the State High Court of Justice.

The Governor also said, “the appointment was ratified by the honorable members of the Gombe State House of Assembly.”

He expressed optimism that the new Justice Awak would discharge his duties with maximum commitment and integrity for the benefit of the state.

Governor Yahaya urged the sworn-in Chief Judge to ensure a transparent judiciary where justice would be dispensed to all manner of people in the state without discrimination, fear or favor, pledging to ensure the independence of the judiciary in the state.
