A community development forum in Kirfi local government area of Bauchi state has discovered a devastating condition of a secondary school being managed by only Nine Staff.
A written statement made available to our correspondent by Yushau Haruna KIirfi on Sunday noted that the discovery was made when the forum of Kirfi local government indigenes held a meeting yesterday at the Government Secondary School Kirfi (GSS KIRFI).
He said that the forum was at the premises of the secondary school to discuss various issues and problems bedevilling the local government and proffer solutions to them.
According to Yushau, the meeting which lasted for almost one and half hours unravelled a lot of challenges threatening the development of the area which include education, health, electricity, water, good road network among others.
He said: “The group found out that the only Boarding school in the whole local government (GSS KIRFI) has only NINE (9) members of staff Manning or shouldering the responsibility of teaching the students of the school”.
Yushau said that the Patriots lamented that, of all the Nine Staff, none of them is teaching the students English or Mathematics, adding that the school also lacks non-teaching staff.
“The ugly picture of the school cannot be overemphasized; classrooms, offices, dining room and all other buildings are dilapidated beyond recognition”, the document said..
Yusha’u noted that the group also discussed the non-completion of the ALGON project of model Primary Health Care Badara ((PHC Badara) which started around 2009 to 2010.
He said that the non-completion of a contract for the renovation of General Hospital kirfi which was awarded by the former Governor Isa Yuguda’s administration and the long-pending problem of the construction of Kirfi to Gombe-abba road among others was also observed.
Yusha’u said that the Patriots after discovering the challenges, set up two committees of education and health to be headed by the former member representing Kirfi in the Bauchi state house of assembly Dr Ibrahim Galadima Badara.
According to him, the committee is saddled with the mandate to see the commissioner of education and the commissioner of health Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde and Dr Aliyu Maigoro respectively.
“The other committee, which comprises of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), traditional rulers and other key stakeholders will look into the problem of non-challant attitudes of parents to send their wards to the school”, he added.
Malam Yushau said, however, that the group resolved to write two letters; one to the commissioner of power Bauchi state, Alhaji Abubakar Sade to complain to him on fallen electric power poles in the areas living across riverside while the other letter would be written to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) on the issue of Kirfi to Gombe-abba road.
He said that the dignitaries present during the meeting include; the Bauchi state Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) chairman comrade Danjuma Sale and a Former member of the Bauchi state house of assembly representing Kirfi constituency Dr Ibrahim Galadima Badara.
According to him, former Kirfi local government caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Garba Sabo Bara, former school services, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu (Ibrahim Ladan) among other personalities were also in attendance.
