GSU Defies ASUU Strike, Recalls 100-Level Students

Gombe State University, GSU, has asked its 100-level students to report back to campus after nearly seven months of industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

ASUU in February this year declared an industrial action that suspended academic activities in Nigeria’s public universities. The reason for ASUU’s action is the consistent failure of the federal government to honour the Memorandum of Action it ratified with the union a couple of years ago.

“Accordingly, all 100 level students are to report to their respective department on Monday,” the statement read in part.
