Hackers have reportedly hacked the website of a famous new generation financial institution, Guaranty Trust (GT) Bank.
Customers on social media hinted this when they complained of inaccessibility to the bank’s website on Wednesday night.
As of 10:30pm Wednesday, several attempts to log on to www.gtbbank.com returned error signs.
The incident happened after the domain name was renewed for another five years from August 13, 2024, through March 21, 2029, according to platforms that analyze domain information.
DailyTrust reports that a cybersecurity expert with experience in the Nigerian banking industry noted it was possible that the bank’s login details were compromised, as against the domain address itself being stolen for a resale at a more lucrative deal online.
WikkiTimes sent an enquiry email to GTbank to confirm the matter, but it was replied to as of the time of filing this report.
