The Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation has said that its source of water to Bauchi metropolis has been vandalised in Gubi Dam, a statement by Comrade Umar Adamu as said.
The metropolis has been plunged into acute water scarcity. Adamul said that: “The current water scarcity is as a result of the vandalisation of 1000/900mm pumping mains pipe that carries water from the Gubi Dam water treatment plant to Warinje Hills reservoirs by unpatriotic elements.”
The Corporation has since shut down the Gubi Dam water treatment plant. “On the level of damage caused, the unpatriotic elements were able to remove four iron burglary proof of air release valve chambers and further turned the air release valves closed, while production and pumping was still on at the treatment plant. This resulted in a serious burst of a 1000/900mm pipe.
“Already, BSUWSC team of engineers are working round the clock to fix the damages and restore normal production and pumping of quality water to Bauchi metropolis within the shortest period of time. The management of BSUWSC are in collaboration with relevant security agencies on the matter. We are sorry for the inconveniences. While appreciating the patience of the general public, the Corporation solicits for more understanding,” he said.
