Gunmen Abduct 2 Bauchi Monarchs, Kill One Other

The district heads of Bakutunbe and Balma villages — Idris Unguwa and Hussain Saleh — in Ningi local council, Bauchi State have been kidnapped by gun-wielding men who also killed a businessman in the area.

According to Premium Times, the slain businessman was identified as Haruna Dan-Oc.

The incident was confirmed by Chairman of Ningi LGA, Ibrahim Zubairu.

Zubairu urged the residents to pray and give helpful information to security personnel in the area.

He said he would make an effort to see that soldiers, who used to be stationed in the area, are returned to the area to restore security and build people’s confidence.

THE INVASIONS

The gunmen, according to the platform, invaded Balma town around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday with heavy gunfire before they abducted the district head.

“When they came into the town, they went straight to the palace of the district head and started shooting sporadically, which forced people to scamper for safety,” a source said.

The deceased’s body was discovered after the gunmen left.

The same armed group [that same night] were said to have besieged Bakutunbe village and kidnapped the village head and a 45-year-old man, Ya’u Gandu.

The kidnappers are demanding N8 million for each of the captives as ransom.

It was gathered one Malami Ware was kidnapped in Ware Ware village, last week. Another person, Buba Kwancikwaniya was also kidnapped in Yelwa village, all in Ningi.

WikkiTimes could not immediately reach Wakil Mohammed, spokesman for Bauchi Police Command, for comments.

At press time, an enquiry sent to him had not been responded to.
