Gunmen Abduct Nasarawa Varsity Student, Shot One Other

Suspected gunmen have reportedly abducted a student of the Federal University of Lafia, in Nasarawa State and shot one other. The gunmen trapped the victims in Gandu area, a major settlement for students around 8 p.m. on Monday, according to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

He told WikiTimes that the incident took place when the students of the university were returning from class and their daily activities, noted that the gunmen started shooting, which scared the people away, hence, giving them a free hand to abduct the student.

“They started shooting; it was even close to my house The incident took place after I just returned from class. Though I do not know the identity of the abducted person, another student was shot by the gunmen.

He expressed fear with the recent security issues experienced in the area “In recent times, gunmen have been on rampage in the area, causing fears for us, In the past two months, four students have been abducted in the area, though they have been released but I feel unsafe here”

Another student who expressed fear over the attack noted that students have been the major targets of the abductors in recent times.

Both students who spoke to WikiTimes appealed to the government to prioritize security in and around the university which will boost their confidence and further help them to concentrate and learn better

A report published by Fulafia Bulletin on Facebook noted that the state governor Abdullahi Sule visited the university on Tuesday evening to ascertain the real cause of the security challenge

During his visit, he pledged a better security presence in the areas where students reside in the state capital.

Earlier when WikkiTimes Contacted the police public relations officer he noted that he was not aware of such an incident.
