Unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday abducted the Chairman of Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, Henry Gotip, in his residential house.
Alfred Alabo, the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos on Wednesday.

He said the chairman who doubled as ALGON Secretary Plateau state chapter was whisked away at about 1:00 am from his Jos residence in Kwang, Jos South Local Government Area.
Alabo explained that the command had deployed armed personnel to track down the criminals and rescue the victim safely.
”In fact, the instruction was that non of the personal will sleep until they get the victim out”, he stressed.

The police officer assured residents of the state that the command was doing everything possible to make the state a crime-free, appealing for calm among the citizens.
The spokesman urged residents to cooperate with the police in its bid to rid the state of crime.
Plateau is among the northcentral states ravaged by the havoc of banditry and kidnappings especially in Wase and Kanam, the two local councils neighbouring Kanke.
