Waylaying gunmen in the wee hours of Monday abducted Tony Udemezue, a Catholic Parishioner under the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto
The gunmen, WikkiTimes gathered, invaded the victim’s house and whisked him away.
Rev. Fr. Chris Omotosho, the director of Communications for Sokoto Diocese, confirmed the incident, saying the victim was abducted in the early hours of Monday in his Tambuwal residence.
“One of my parishioners in Tambuwal, Sokoto State – Tony Udemezue, has just been kidnapped in his own house (home town of the executive governor of the State – Aminu Tambuwal),” said Omotosho.
He added: “No police has responded in the last 1 hour (since 2 am), despite they were called by him before he was taken away.
“Pls let us keep him & family in prayers.”
As of press time, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Sanusi Abubakar, has not responded to an enquiry sent to him.
