Gunmen Invade Bali Town In Taraba, Kill Two, Kidnap Scores Including Women

Gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Bali town, the headquarters of Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, killing two and kidnapping scores including women.

WikkiTimes learnt that the assailants rode into the town on motorcycles around 11:00 pm yesterday and shot personnel of Taraba Marshall at a checkpoint near General Hospital before proceeding to individual houses.

Zaki David Gbaa, a Tiv Chief in Bali, told the Punch that the attackers reigned terror in the village for more than four hours. He noted that no security operatives responded to the attack.  

“Two of my subjects were killed in the attack, and two others who were badly injured are receiving treatment in the hospital,” said the Tiv chief.

WikkiTimes learnt that the attack occurred barely three days after bandits blocked the Mutum-Biyu- Garba Chede road, killing a driver and abducting passengers in the neighbouring Gassol local government area of the state.

The traditional ruler also called on the government to support the injured people receiving treatment in hospitals. Also, he advised security agencies to step up and ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens, as people are losing hope in the government’s ability to protect them.
