Gunmen locally known as bandits on Wednesday wreaked havoc at the residence of Daniel Umaru, a pastor of ENY Church Njirai in Adamawa State, killing his two sons and abducting a 13-year-old girl.
The pastor, according to sources, also sustained injuries and has been admitted in hospital along with his wife who went unconscious after the attack.
According to reports, the marauding gunmen besieged the pastor’s residence around 2am yesterday.
“The pastor was said to be shot during the raid and he is in hospital now,” a source said. “But, his wife who was at the scene of the attack, is now in a lifeless state.”
Press Secretary to state governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, confirmed the incident adding that the gunmen operated in the house around 2: am.
“The State Government condemns in strongest terms the despicable attack on this innocent family, saying the perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to justice.
“We have offered our full support to the Security Agencies to do so,” said the press secretary, adding the government would continue to confront crime in all its forms, including “the threat posed by kidnappers.”
The governor, through Wonosikou, sympathized with the family and the church.
Gunmen attack in Adamawa State is not a common phenomenon. The last attack, according to findings was in October, 2021, when terrorists attacked a police division in Ngurore and kidnapped a nursing mother including her daughter.
