Gunmen Wreak Havoc In Benue Community, Kill 11, Displace Scores 

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Sunday invaded Igama village in Edumoga Ehaje Community, Benue State, killing 11 persons and dispalcing many.

The attackers, in their large number breached the village peaceful atmosphere around 07:00 am and started their killing spree, WikkiTimes learnt. 

“The residents were preparing to go to church  when the attackers invaded the villagers”, a local source said. “The number of casualty is yet  uncertain as more dead bodies are being discovered. We have recovered 11bodies.”

According to sources, the attackers destroyed many houses in the community. Although, aged villagers including women and children were spared from the havoc.

“The attackers are Fulani herdsmen. They stormed the community in a commando manner between 4 am and 6 am this morning (Sunday),” another discrete source said. “They killed some of the youths in the village and spared the elderly, children and women as they allowed them to run away.”

Catherine Anene, the Benue State police spokesman confirmed the attack, saying the details of the incident are still sketchy at press time.  “I will brief journalist once the command gets the full details of the incident,” she vowed.
