Hajj: Jigawa Council chairman donates Saudi Riyals to intending pilgrims as farewell gift

Alhaji Umar Musa-Kalgwai, Chairman, Auyo Local Government Council in Jigawa on Thursday announced a token gift of 50 Saudi Riyals to each of the 26 intending pilgrims from the Local Government area.

Musa-Kalgwai, announced the gesture in Auyo while bidding the pilgrims farewell,  advised them to always guard their luggage against drug syndicates hanging around airports in the country.

“Keep your bags close to your chests and do not receive bag from any stranger under the guise of safe keeping.

“Take note of this, considering the way and manner drug syndicates now operate, planting drugs in pilgrims’ bags,” the chairman warned.

He urged them to pray for peace and prosperity in Nigeria, warning them to avoid acts that are capable of denting the image of the country.

Responding on behalf of the pilgrims, Alhaji Muhammad Anauya thanked the council for the assistance and promised that the pilgrims would be good ambassadors of the country in the Holyland.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the pilgrims are expected to depart Dutse Airport for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Friday morning. (NAN)
