Bauchi Governor Hails Army On Social Activities To Improve Civil-Military Relations

Bauchi state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has applauded the management of the Nigerian Army for introducing social activities for officers and men of the force aimed at improving civil-military relations.

The governor made the commendation at the 2021 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the Nigerian Army held at Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed observed that the annual social activities will go a long way in consolidating the existing harmonious relationship among the various cultural groups in the barracks.

He maintained that having tirelessly and stressfully worked throughout the year, it is only proper that officers and men of the force have a time to not only freshen up but also socialize.

“The holding of the annual West African Social Activities (WASA) underscores the adage that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

The governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Marcus Yake retired, described the relationship between the army and people of Bauchi state as very cordial, adding that, his administration is working in partnership with the Nigerian Army to ensure peace and security in the state.

He noted that, the state government has been providing the Army and other security agencies the necessary support for effective discharge of their duties and assured to maintain it for better performance.

“As we all know, the Nigerian Army has the constitutional role of defending the territorial integrity of the nation. I am pleased to note that, not only has the Nigerian Army been performing this role creditably, it has also been actively collaborating with other security agencies to maintain internal security in the country.”

On his part, the Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier General Muktar Adamu explained that, aside enhancing comradeship and espirit-de-corps among the personnel, WASA provides a means for improving civil-military relations and also serves as an avenue of rewarding hardworking, disciplined, and dedicated soldiers.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed for his untiring support to the 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi and to acknowledge the sacrifices of our troops deployed across the area of responsibility of the brigade for their commitment to the duties.”
