A number of yet-to-be-identified hoodlums reportedly killed a 28-year-old man, Yakubu Grema and set ablaze a local office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Potiskum Road in Damaturu, Yobe State.
It was learnt that the thugs stabbed Grema to death when he attended the launch of the manifesto of Buni Youth Awareness Network, a political group, at Damaturu local government hall.
After killing Grema, the group proceeded to Potiskum Road and attacked the APC local office, destroying properties before setting it on fire.
Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesman for Yobe Police Command confirmed the incident, saying two miscreants, Ibrahim Aliyu and Saleh Isa, were arrested in connection with the crime.
He said on receiving the news of the crime, policemen visited the scene and conveyed the victim to the Specialists Hospital, Damaturu, where he was confirmed dead.
“As a result of that, fire engulfed the two shops beside the branch office,” he said. “Detectives immediately informed firefighters who visited the scene and successfully put off the fire.”
Abdulkarim said the suspects both residents of Nayinawa area would be prosecuted after completion of investigation.
