How Bauchi Corp Member Falls Victim of Fraudulent Opay Customer Care

Zainab Sani Mika, a corp member undergoing her one-year mandatory service with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bauchi State said her Opay banking account [a fintech company] was hacked and her money went missing afterwards.

The victim told WikkiTimes the incident happened on March 2 when she contacted a supposed Opay customer care service on Twitter. She contacted the handle to complain that a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) account sent money to her and she hadn’t been credited.

The handler asked Mika to send the sum of N5,000 before her complaint could be addressed.

Mika later reported the incident to official Opay customer care line through their mobile application as well as email address, but she had not received any response as of press time.

Opay’s communications Officer, Femi Hanson was not available for comment.

WikkiTimes had earlier reported how one Hauwa Aliyu, an Abuja-based lady, was scammed by a fake Opay customer care page on Twitter on March 2.

The lady had shared her banking details with the page following a glitch she experienced on March 2. Shortly after sharing her details, the sum of N35,000 was deducted from her account. That’s not all. The page blocked her afterwards.
