The victim sustained various degrees of injuries including spinal and leg breakage.  Mr. Peter is currently lying unconscious at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

WikkiTimes’ gathered that Shamsuddeen Isa Yuguda, who conceded hitting  Mr. Peter took him to hospital, but Peter’s mother Mrs. Victoria Vincent, alleged that they were abandon ‘half-way’.

The mother of the victim who spoke to WikkiTimes in a shrilling voice lamented how the former Governor’s son hit her son; deposited only fifteen thousand naira for medication and left the widow to bear the brunt of the remaining hospital bills.

Mrs. Victoria said when the accident happened, the son to the Governor promised to shoulder the hospital bills and get better medication for Mr. Peter but regretted that “we have not seen or heard from Shamsu since he left upon depositing N15,000”.

“He told me, ‘Mama don’t worry, I will take care of your son’; I went and knelt before him (Referring to Shamsuddeen I sa Yuguda) and urged him to fulfill the promise between him and his God.”

“I thanked him and encouraged him to look at the condition of my son so he could keep the promise by ensuring that my son gets decent treatment.”

“Let me be frank with you my son (referring to this writer); Peter has a wife and children, and we all lean on him for feeding and other day to day needs in the household; now he is down—very unconscious; who will feed us?

When asked whether they have contacted Shamsuddeen Isa Yuguda on his promise to foot the medical bills, Mrs. Victoria Vincent says “he switched off his phone, in fact at a point he told us not to disturbed him again.”

“the Doctors wrote me some prescription, but I don’t have a single penny to buy the drugs, it was one of the doctors that gave me N5,000 to buy drugs for Peter.

When WikkiTimes’ reporter contacted Mr. Shamsudden Isa Yuguda on the allegation, he denied abandoning them, saying he has done his best.

“if people think they want to use media or human rights activists or whatever to intimidate me and induce money from me because they thought I’m a son to a former governor; then they are wasting their time” said Mr. Shamsuddeen.

A human right activist with Prison Inmates Development Initiative, PIDI, Mr. Mbami Sabka Iliya threatened to take legal action if Shamsuddeen Isa Yuguda did not revert to foot the medical bills.

“I was disappointed when I received a complaint from Mrs. Victoria Vincent; and particularly when I learnt that a son to a former governor, whom we labored to bring to office, could commit such atrocity and walk away.”

“ we are committed to ensuring that justice is done to Mrs. Vincent and her son Peter; as such we will not hesitate to take legal action in the event the alleged perpetrator who has already accepted to have committed the act did not do the needful”.
