Huge teaching vacancies exist in Bauchi basic education sub sector-SUBEB Director

Bauchi state government has been alerted of the huge teachers deficit in the basic education sub sector following the retirement, death and voluntary withdrawal of teachers from service, over the years.

The Director Quality Assurance of the state Universal Basic Education Boards Mr. Sulisma Lamuel gave this indication during the ongoing monitoring of some schools to ensure quality is adhered to by teachers.

Mr. Sulisma Lemuel cited the example of Bogoro local government where over four hundred teachers have left the basic education sub sector in the last five years without their vacancies being replaced.

The figure according to him if multiplied by the twenty local government areas would showcase a large number of vacancies in the teaching profession in the state.

He called for the massive recruitment of teachers to bridge the current teachers deficit in the basic education sub sector.

Earlier the Education Secretary Bogoro local Education Authority Reverend Ayuba Dauda Bar promise total cooperation to the monitoring team to ensure success of the exercise.
