The Borno State Police Command has declared a 24-hour curfew in the state following a Violent protest that erupted in the ongoing hunger rage in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Nahum Kenneth Daso, the spokesman of the command while announcing the declaration said this is to maintain law and order in the state.
Daso who said the curfew is with immediate effect, argued, that the ongoing chaos is what necessitated the police to make the declaration.
“ Based on the security chaos in the state, the command has declared 24hrs curfew with immediate effect. Official press release follows”, tweets Daso.
The Daily Trust had earlier reported that a bomb had exploded at a local tea joint in Kawori where 16 people were confirmed dead by the police on the eve of the protest.
