‘I Can’t Stick to Failure’ — Zamfara Commissioner Says As He Quit APC for PDP

Aliyu Mafara, Zamfara State Commissioner for Budget, resigned from his position yesterday to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Channels TV is reporting.

Prior to this, the former commissioner has thrown weight behind the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dauda Lawal-Dare. Marafa told journalists in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara that he could not bear to stick to failed government of APC. His resignation came barely 48 hours after some special advisers in the state dumped APC for the opposition PDP.

“I informed the state government, former Governor Abdulaziz Yari, and all my supporters prior to my defection from the APC to the PDP,” he said. “I am doing this for the people, and it is my conviction that Dr. Dauda Lawal, if given the opportunity at the forthcoming election to govern Zamfara State, would tackle the problem of security, boost agricultural production, and create good markets for farm produce.”

The PDP gubernatorial candidate, however, described Zamfara as a fully PDP state, stressing that the party will have a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.
