Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a member of the House of Representatives representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State denied allegations of murder made by Abdulmumini Jibrin, a member representing represented Kiru/Bebeji in the state.
Doguwa asserted that he faces no such charges, explaining that the court had dismissed all charges against him, and he had been acquitted.
“I want to state clearly that as of today, I, Doguwa, am not facing any murder or culpable homicide charges in any court of law in Nigeria,” Doguwa on Thursday in Abuja.
He emphasized that there are no ongoing cases against him related to politically motivated violence, despite rumors circulating in some circles.
Doguwa explained that he had undergone thorough criminal investigations and judicial scrutiny at various levels and had emerged unscathed and vindicated. He pointed out that comprehensive police investigations, conducted by the Force Criminal Investigation Department, had cleared him of all allegations, and the records are available for public review.
He accused his political adversaries, both within and outside his constituency, of attempting to falsely implicate him to derail his political career. “For the information of Jibrin and his allies, it was on the basis of police clearance that the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Kano State issued advice that cleared me of any criminal charges,” Doguwa stated.
He further claimed that the turmoil in his constituency was a fabricated effort to thwart what was seen as his political ambition, particularly his potential bid for the Speakership of the House of Representatives. Doguwa defended his right to pursue any position he believed he was qualified for.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Jibrin had previously alleged that Doguwa’s election victories were marred by rigging and violence, leaving a trail of sorrow, tears, and blood in his constituency. He accused Doguwa of ruling with an iron fist and dictatorship rather than representing his people fairly.
