The Police in Plateau State have arrested Ali Madida, the notorious perpetrator of underage abortions in the state that endangers the lives of unsuspecting minors.
Madida who is involved in 5-thousand-naira illegal abortion uncovered by in a documentary undertaken by a journalist, Ramati through the Women radio Centre with support from MacArthur Foundation, was arrested by operatives of the Plateau State Command on Friday May, 17th.
Announcing the development in its X handle, the Women Radio Centre said Madida will be charged for numerous crimes such as performing illegal abortion on minors, operating without license and endangering the health and safety of minors among others.
It however, expressed hope that the culprit will be made to face the full wrath of law, having knowledge of his previous incidents of evading justice, while commending the efforts of Plateau State Government and the Nigerian Police Force for the swift response.
“The Women Radio Centre is pleased to announce that a significant breakthrough has been achieved on Friday 17 May 2024 with the arrest of key perpetrator Ali Madida who is involved in 5-thousand-naira illegal abortion to minors in Jos Plateau. Madida was apprehended by Jos police law enforcement officers led by DSP Alfred Alabo following the release of an undercover documentary by Ramatu through the Women Radio Centre with support from MacArthur Foundation”.
“Women Radio Centre commends the government of Plateau state and the Nigerian Police Force for the swift response. Ali Madida faces multiple charges, including performing illegal abortions on minors, endangering the health and safety of minors, and operating without a medical license. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses. Madida is a serial offender that has mastered the art of evading justice and we are hopeful that he will be prosecuted this time” read the tweet.
The centre while expressing it resolve to ensure that justice is served, said it will work closely with law enforcement agencies and legal practitioners, adding that this arrest marks a crucial step in its ongoing efforts to dismantle the network responsible for exploiting vulnerable minors.
