A staff member at the Federal University Wukari (FUW) in Taraba State has been promoted to the rank of deputy registrar after WikkiTimes report exposed how he was shortchanged in the process earlier.
WikkiTimes reported that Mr Adobe Jika alongside others were due for promotion to the position of deputy registrar in the University but was denied citing lack of available space from the office of the registrar.
However, an outside from another university, Nuhu Shamaki, was brought in two months after and promoted to the position that Mr Jika Was denied due to unavailability of vacancy.
The registrar of the institution was alleged to be involved as part of struggle for eventual succession to the highest position of administrative cadre. The registrar, Dr Aboki Bambur, had denied all the allegations and described them as baseless.
A source in the University who is conversant with the matter told WikkiTimes over the weekend that Mr. Jika had been promoted to the position of deputy registrar which he was due since 2024.
The source added that initially Mr. Jika was accused of leaking the information to the press but after investigation which involved security personnel he was cleared.
“Mr. Jika had got his promotion and I think your report played a vital role. Initially, he was accused of leaking the information to the press which led to investigating the matter. So, the Vice Chancellor followed the issue and the right thing was done. He has been promoted now.,” the source said anonymously due to the fear of victimization.
He added “and you know the registrar’s position had been advertised and so, in a few months’ time new registrar will emerge in the institution.”
WikkiTimes effort to speak with Mr. Jika or authorities of the institution was not successful as at the time of filing this report.
