In Week-long Invasions, Terrorists ‘Kill Unspecified Number of Locals in Kano Village, Abduct 11 Others’

Last week, gun-wielding terrorists wreaked havoc in Yola village, Karaye Local Government Area of Kano State, killing an unspecified number of locals and abducting at least 11 others.

The terrorists reportedly murdered the locals during their separate invasions of the village.

Some villagers from Yola community who spoke to Premier Radio Kano on Monday [on condition of anonymity] disclosed the area has no presence of security personnel.

Karaye LGA, the headquarters of Karaye Emirate Council, has a distance of 103.1 kilometres from Kano City and hosts the National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) Orientation Camp.

The Karaye local government shares a border with Katsina, one of the bandit-infested frontline states in North West Nigeria, where Governor Dikko Radda recently inaugurated the Katsina Community Watch Corps that would complement security forces to tackle banditry in the State.

The villagers appealed to Kano State Government and Kano State Police Command to come to their rescue and station police in the community to halt future assaults on their village by the terrorists.

The spokesperson for the Police in Kano DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa neither returned several calls placed through his phone nor replied to the WhatsApp and text Messages sent to him.
