Professor Umar Zaiyan, returning officer for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jigawa State has declared Umar Namadi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the governorship election held today.
He announced the result in Dutse, the state capital, noting that Namadi polled 618,449 votes to beat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Mustapha Sule Lamido, who garnered 368,726 votes.
“I Prof. Umar Zaiyan hereby certify that Umar Namadi of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the Law is declared the winner of the Jigawa governorship election,” he said.
