This follows INEC’s removal of Hon. Alhassan Doguwa’s name from the list of Reps-elect on Tuesday, citing irregularities during the electoral exercise and alleging that the incumbent Member representing the federal constituency and Majority Leader of the House of Representatives was declared winner of the election under duress.

Doguwa was arrested in connection with the violence that broke out during the collation of election results, which resulted in the death of two people when a secretariat of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) was set ablaze on the order of the embattled lawmaker.

Doguwa was later granted bail and barred from visiting the constituency for the next governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
