INEC had suspended further collation of governorship election results in some parts of Abia and Enugu states due to the invasion of the INEC office in Obingwa Local Government Area by thugs on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
The thugs held INEC officials hostage in relation to the collation of results from the Local Government Area, prompting the electoral umpire to suspend the collation amid allegations of infractions, particularly over-voting in some areas.
