As prices of food and goods continue to skyrocket, businesses fold up and more people become jobless due to the high rate of inflation across the country, Nigerians are seen lamenting and protesting about this development .
It would be recalled that Nigerians from northern state of Niger, kano and kogi came out to demand urgent intervention about the unbearable condition.
According to the Nigeria National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation rose to 29.90 per cent in January 2024 from 28.92 per cent recorded in the previous month.
To address this issue, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s meet with all the state governors in Abuja. The meeting focused on rising insecurity challenges in the country and rising food prices.
The removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of naira has been blamed for the increase in cost of living.

Adamawa procures 31 buses to ease public transportation:
The Adamawa government said it has procured 31 mass transit buses to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal on workers.
Neido Kufulto, Adamawa commissioner for information and strategy,
said the procurement of the buses is part of efforts by the administration of Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, to ease the economic hardship on the people.

The Governor of Niger state, Mohammed Bago has imposed a ban on wholesale food purchases by traders from neighboring states.
He attributed the hike witnessed in the country to the influx of external traders exacerbating scarcity.
While intended to protect local markets, economists warn that price controls may worsen the situation, potentially driving farmers and vendors out of business.

The distribution took place at the premises of the Palace of Emir of Gwoza, Shehu Idrissa Timta.
Zulum supervised the food distribution during which each of 13,000 households received one bag of rice and a bag of maize grain.
