Insecurity: Zamfara Community Protests Continued Bandit Attacks, Shuts Down Major Highway

Disturbed by incessant attacks by bandits, the residents of Sakajiki village of Kaura-Namoda local government of Zamfara State have blocked a major highway protesting continued killings of their kinsmen by the terror groups.

WikkiTimes learnt the locals in their hundreds, Tuesday morning, blocked the Kaura-Gusau Highway with stones and other related items to express their displeasure over continued neglect by the state government.

The protesters, who trooped out en mass, further frowned against how the continuous attacks have denied them the right to safety.

They vowed to ensure the road remained blocked until the appropriate authorities intercede in their grievances. They asked the state government to deploy adequate security personnel to safeguard the community.

Meanwhile, a police outpost in the area was allegedly attacked by the bandits on Saturday night, carting away rifles and other ammunition after the bandits reportedly killed a security personnel.

Zayid Abubakar, the Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson, later confirmed the incident to WikkiTimes correspondent. But, he said, normalcy had been restored.

He revealed the immediate deployment of security personnel to the area by the state police command.
