Investigation Ongoing on 38-Year-Old Suspected Suicide Victim – Police

The Gombe State Police Command on Tuesday disclosed that it has commenced an investigation into the suspected death of a 38-year-old man, Mallam Abdullahi Ardo, said to have committed suicide in Gombe State.

The deceased was confirmed dead in the early hours of Monday morning after allegedly committing suicide by hanging.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gombe state, Assitant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the deceased was found dead around Child Care Development Primary School, where he worked as a watchman until his demise.

“Please SAY NO to SUICIDE and preach against it,” the Police added.

“A 38-year-old Mallam Abdullahi Ardo, attached to Child Care Development Primary School as a watchman, was suspected to have committed suicide in the early hours of Monday by hanging himself using a piece of rag on a swinging pole within the school at Tudun Wada Qtrs (Quarters) Gombe,” the Police stated.

However, Abubakar told The WikkiTimes that the Police are aware of the incident and the investigation is still ongoing, adding that the police cannot finalize that he committed suicide until the ongoing investigation has been concluded

“We are aware of the case, and it was a suspected suicide case because he was working in that particular school, and the incident happened in the early hours of Monday. That was yesterday. He was working as a watchman, and it was already time for closing when the incident happened because it could be observed that the chair he even used was beside in the picture”

“Though there was no any letter left behind, he did not write anything to state the reason. Meanwhile, we notified his family, and the body was moved to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Presently, we are investigating the case. I cannot finalize to say he committed suicide because the investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
