Israel-Hamas War: Islamic Council Berates FG’s Stance, Accuses UN of Hypocrisy

Supreme Council for Shari’a in Nigeria (SCSN), an Islamic organisation, has expressed concern about the Federal Government’s (FG) vague position on Israel’s attack against Palestinians.

It told the Nigerian authority to kick against the bombardment of Palestine by Israel.

“Nigeria should emulate South Africa in condemning the atrocities of Israel on Palestine,” the council stated.

The group urged the FG to fortify its leadership position in Africa, as witnessed by the former Military Head of State, Late General Murtala Mohammed, by being at the forefront of the struggle for the liberation of the oppressed people of Palestine and other places such as Myanmar, Kashmir, China and India.

“It is in this light that SCSN is calling on the UN and the international community to stop this hypocrisy, and immediately apply international law equally on every nation, and also pursue the realisation of the two states solution in Palestine diligently, to bring to an end, the bloodshed and suffering in that part of the world.”

It stressed that Israel is determined to massacre the over two million Muslims and Christian Palestinians in Gaza, “SCSN is deeply saddened and outraged by Israel’s bombardments on Gaza and strongly condemned the most recent singular act of the US as it has always done for vetoing the UN Resolution calling for humanitarian pauses in Gaza war that would facilitate passage of aid to Gaza.

Sheikh Hadiyyatullah said the recent developments showed that the United Nations has failed. “It also shows the failure of the global institutions established after the Second World War. The international community has failed to address it because the United States has consistently offered unconditional support to Israel to strengthen its intentions to occupy Palestine. We are very saddened by these occurrences.”
