ISWAP Commander, 41 Footsoldiers Killed by Nigerian Troops in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) stormed the hideout of members of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 41 terrorists and one of the commanders identified as Abu Zahra.

Zagazola Makama, a security expert familiar with the trends in Lake Chad tweeted that the troops eliminated the terrorists in a silent intelligence-led midnight offensive, coordinated by Major-General Shaibu Waidi, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, in Mukdolo, GUPDILO and Bone villages, located between Dikwa, Ngala and Mafa in Borno.

The onslaught against the killer group followed attacks allegedly launched by the sect which claimed the lives of 36 fishermen in GUPDILO on March 10.

The terrorists, headed by Abu Darda and Abu Muhammed, also reportedly stormed Mafa on March 19, but the troops thwarted their plan. This, however, resulted in the killing of scores of terrorists and the recovery of two gun trucks and other military equipment.

Abu Mohammed (Amir Jaysh), the terrorist Commander, in the company of some fighters reportedly fled in disarray abandoning their houses and property.
