JED Bemoans Non-Payment of Tariff In Bauchi

Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) has decried the prevalence of underpayment of electric tariffs by customers in Bauchi State. 

JED Regional Manager Bauchi Field Office, Engineer Hafiz Saleh Hassan said this in an interview with journalists in Bauchi. 

He said that while the company is on its toes to provide a stable power supply to customers, its effort is being scuttled by the end beneficiaries. 

“Acute underpayment from our customers remains our major challenge to smooth operations of JED.

“There is the need for electricity consumers in Bauchi to ensure prompt payment of their monthly electricity tariffs,” he said. 

The Regional Manager said electricity is paramount to the lives of the people and can not be over-emphasized, hence the need for companies, business operators and members of the public, to consider the importance of electricity supply in their daily affairs.

Engineer Hafiz expressed dismay with the way and manner their staff face assault from the public and called for good understanding, for the benefit of all.

The Regional Manager, reaffirmed his commitment, to ensure adequate distribution of electricity supply in all the nooks and crannies of the state, for the betterment of the people.

Some residents of Bauchi state interviewed by our correspondent, Abdullahi Usman from Tudun Salmanu, Shu’aibu Abu-Sumayya from Old Airport, as well as Malam Karami Tela Makera and Yusuf from Kangere in the Bauchi local government area, called on Jos Electricity Distribution Company to address electric challenges in some areas of the state, in order to achieve the set goals.

They expressed satisfaction with the outstanding performance of JED to ensure regular electricity distributions in the states, adding that the move would no doubt boost commercial activities in the state.
