Munkaila Ahmadu, a 37-year-old Jigawa-based man has allegedly killed his parents with a pestle, the Jigawa Police Command says.
The command’s spokesman, Shiisu Adam, said the suspect also injured two other people, apart from his father, Ahmad Muhammad and Hauwa Ahmad, his mother. While the other persons survived his cruelty, his parents could not. They were later confirmed dead.
According to the police spokesman, the incident happened at Zarada-sabuwa village of Gagarawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
“On 01/09/2022 at about 1130hrs, the police received information that one Munkaila Ahmadu ‘m’ age 37yrs of Zarada -Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA of Jigawa State, used a wooden pestle and attacked the following persons; 1. Ahmad Muhammad ‘m’ age 70yrs, “a village head of Zarada -Sabuwa village”, 2. Hauwa Ahmadu ‘f’ age 60yrs, 3. Kailu Badugu ‘m’ age 65yrs, 4. Hakalima Amadu ‘f’ age 50yrs all of Zarada -Sabuwa village Gagarawa LGA,” Adam said in a statement. “Upon receipt of the report, a team of Policemen visited the scene of crime and conveyed the victims to General Hospital Gumel.”
“The said Ahmadu Muhammad ‘m’ and Hauwa Ahmadu ‘f’ were certified dead by a medical doctor as a result of head injuries sustained,” he added. “While Kailu Badugu ‘m’ and Hakalima Amadu ‘f’ who sustained various degrees of injuries, were admitted.”
The police spokesman said the exhibit (pessle) used in the chaotic scene was recovered from the suspect. He added that a preliminary investigation has revealed that Ahmad Muhammad and Hauwa Ahmadu, birthed their killer son.
Adam noted that the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Sale Tafida, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), Dutse, for immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the culprit.
