Jigawa Ministry Honours 50 Women Activists

The Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has recognized 50 outstanding individuals for their dedicated service to women’s development.

Hadiza Abdulwahab, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development announced this during a one-day Jigawa Women Summit held in Dutse, the capital of the state on Saturday.

The summit, organized to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day, aimed to honour the contributions of both men and women in advancing women’s development in the state.

Abdulwahab commended the support of Governor Umar Namadi towards women’s development, acknowledging the significant impact of the recipients in areas such as education, health, and economic empowerment for women.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that several of the honorees expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing that it would serve as motivation to continue their efforts.

Jigawa State to Establish Disaster Management Trust Fund

Prof. Rukayyatu Rufa’i, former Minister of Education, harped on the importance of investing in girls’ education and empowerment, applauding the Namadi administration for its focus on education and women’s advancement.

Dr. Hauwa Mustapha, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Umar Namadi on early child education, urged parents to prioritize quality education and moral upbringing for their children.

Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, wife of former Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje, called on the government to explore innovative ways to enhance women’s education, encouraging girls to develop their creative skills to contribute meaningfully to society.

Hadiza Umar Namadi, the Wife of the Jigawa Governor, reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women in the state and urged them to pursue avenues for self-reliance.

The summit’s theme, “Inspire, Inclusion,” resonated with the global celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, highlighting its significance in the women’s rights movement.
