Jigawa State Gov Orders for Immediate Flood Mitigation Measures

Against the backdrop of the imminent occurrence of flood this year, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has ordered for immediate mitigation measures across the state.

Governor Namadi said the measure is part of efforts to safeguard the lives and properties of the people of the state as there is likelihood of flooding this rainy season.

Zainab Shu’aibu Rabo Ringim, the Governor’s Special Assistant on Media, in a statement said the governor gave the order while meeting with management of the state ministry of environment.

The governor ordered for commencement of flood control measures in places suspected to be prone to flooding and prompt provision of self-help projects tools to the affected communities that will embark on such projects.

He also ordered for the formation of nine-man committee that will go round the state to access the level of work done with regards to flood control, while appealing to the people of the state to give in their maximum cooperation.
