Jigawa to Provide Farm Loan to Civil Servants

The Jigawa State Government is to support civil servants with loans to contribute to food production in select crops.

The State said it has opened an application portal for the interested state and local government workers to access the loans.

The State Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, who is also the Chairman, Technical Committee on Workers Agricultural Support Programme, announced that the portal will be open for four days between June 19 – 23, 2024 for workers to register.

Dagaceri said the initiative aims to support workers in achieving food security and increasing agricultural productivity in the state.

“The loan programme will provide targeted support for inputs and operational costs for the cultivation of priority crops such as rice, sesame, millet, and sorghum.

“To be eligible, applicants must be Jigawa State Government or Local Government workers, not have a heavy debt burden exceeding one-third of their monthly salary, accept the programme’s terms and conditions, and apply online through the approved application portal,” he explained.

Dagaceri noted that the beneficiaries will repay the loan at the end of one cropping cycle.

This initiative is part of the Jigawa Worker Agricultural Support Programme, which aims to enhance food security and increase agricultural productivity in the state.
