Maimuna Wadaji, a housewife in Jigawa State has set herself on fire in an attempted suicide mission because her husband is going to marry another wife.
DSP Lawan Shiisu, Police Public Relations Officer Jigawa State Command, disclosed to reporters in Dutse that the woman committed the crime last Friday in Runguma village in Dutse, the state capital.
He said Maimuna decided to set herself on fire after learning that her husband would remarry his ex-wife.
“On Friday at around 10:00 am, police received information that a woman named Maimuna Wadaji … had attempted suicide, pouring petrol and setting herself on fire,” he said.
“She later called for help, so she was rushed to the Federal University of Dutse Teaching Hospital (FUD) for treatment.”
