The Nigerian Army on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of the primary suspect accused of killing Alhaji Adamu Idris Gabdo, the deceased Ardo of Panyam, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a post on the micro-blogging application X, the army noted that members of the Operation Safe Heaven (OPSH) tactical team arrested the suspect in Lagos.
The Army statement confirmed the suspect’s identity as Philip Gokas. According to the statement, the arrest was made after weeks of manhunting Gokas.
“The arrest of Mr. Philip Gokas, also known as Jaykimo in Lagos State, was following weeks of painstaking manhunts to bring the criminal to Justice. The relentless pursuit by OPSH led to his tracking and subsequent arrest in the Ogba area of Lagos State, where he was found enjoying himself and drinking beer at a football viewing centre,” the statement read.
The army noted that the suspect had confessed to committing the crime and also pledged to provide further pieces of information that would help in apprehending other culprits concerning the murder
While discouraging the citizens from all forms of illegality, the army restated its commitment to ensure perpetrators of criminal acts do not evade justice.
“The breakthrough also signifies a milestone in our pursuit for justice. We, therefore, remain steadfast in our commitment to maintaining peace and security on the Plateau and its environs. We will continue to work tirelessly to prevent any escalation of violence”. The statement added
