Just In: Bauchi Gov. Declares Friday Work Free Day Ahead of Council Polls

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has declared tomorrow, Friday as work free day to enable civil servants in the state prepare and take part in Saturday’s local government elections in the state.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir in press statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, said all members of the public and civil servants should note that Friday has been set aside as work free day in the state.

“The gesture is to allow citizens exercise their civic rights in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday 17th October, 2020 in all the 20 Local Government Areas in the State,” the statement read.

Bauchi State citizens will head to polling booths on Saturday to elect 20 local government Chairmen and 323 Councillors, the first time in 12 years.

The State electoral umpire has since distributed some sensitive materials ahead of the polls.
