Black marketers operating at Muda Lawal market Bauchi have caused an inferno Friday afternoon which razed down 16 other shops in the vicinity.
The fire incident lasted for one hour, according to an eyewitness account, before personnel of the Fire Service moved to the area.
Dan Baba Mai Atamfa said that the fire started in front of the shop of the black market dealers and escalated to other nearby shops.
He said that the fire had lasted for an hour before personnel of the Fire Service moved to the scene.
Mr. Dan Baba said that the fire destroyed goods worth millions of naira.
Olajide Akinwunmi, a car injector specialist whose shop was razed down completely by the fire said he counts the loss of over three million naira to the fire.
“All my equipment in the shop was born including N20,000 cash,” he said.
WikkiTimes observed that minutes after a fire-fighting truck reached the scene, huge smoke oozed from the burning shops.
