JUST IN: Buhari Meets CBN Boss After Supreme Court’s Sitting

Few hours after Supreme Court adjourned a suit against his government over redesigned naira notes saga, President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, but the details of the meeting remain sketchy.

According to Channels TV, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed that the CBN governor was expected to meet Buhari.

He believes that the duo met after a Federal Executive Council meeting earlier conducted today.

The Supreme Court adjournment came 11 days after Buhari pleaded for a seven-day window to resolve the ongoing tightrope.

This was after Nigeria Governors’ Forum urged him to allow all old notes circulate in the system to ease hardship on ordinary Nigerians.

Shehu could not validate the rumour making round that Buhari would likely extend the deadline by 60 days following the February 10 deadline given by the CBN.

Although, the apex court in an ex parte judgement on February 8, ruled out the proposed deadline, noting that the redesigned old notes should keep being recognized as legal tender.

This was sequel to a lawsuit filed by governors of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara states.
