JUST IN: INEC Declares Fintiri Winner of Adamawa Gov’ship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the winner of the Adamawa State gubernatorial supplementary election. 

This comes after the commission suspended Hudu Yunusa Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa who earlier declared Aishatu Ahmed Binani as the governor-elect.

Earlier today, INEC said the Returning Officer, rofessor Mohammed Mele, for Adamawa would resume collation at a time he deemed fit.

As announced by Professor Mele today, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Fintiti polled 9, 337 votes while his major contender, Binani of All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 6,514. The commission said total votes for the rerun election is around 16,000.

In March 18 election that was adjudged inconclusive, Fintiti had garnered 430,861 to defeat Binani who got 398,788 votes.
